Matcha Black Sesame Cupcakes

One of our favorite flavor combinations are Matcha with black sesame. Pair the nuttiness of black sesame with the earthiness of Matcha in these Matcha Black Sesame Cupcakes.


Matcha Black Sesame Cupcakes

INGREDIENTS

  • Black Sesame Cupcakes
  • • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • • 4 Tbsp ground black sesame seeds
  • • 1 cup canola oil
  • • 4 eggs
  • • ½ cup buttermilk
  • • ¼ cup milk
  • • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • • ½ tsp almond extract
  • Matcha Buttercream
  • • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • • 1 Tbsp Aiya Culinary Grade Matcha
  • • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • • 1 tsp vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

  • Black Sesame Cupcakes
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2. Line 2 cupcake tins with cupcake liners.
  • 3. In a large bowl, sift together all of the dry ingredients and set aside.
  • 4. In a medium bowl, sift together all of the wet ingredients and set aside.
  • 5. Slowly stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
  • 6. Spoon the batter into the cupcake tins until they are filled ⅔ of the way.
  • 7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • 8. Once the cupcakes are done, transfer them to a cooling rack and let them cool completely.
  • Matcha Buttercream
  • 1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and use an electric mixer to beat all ingredients together until smooth.
  • 2. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them as desired and enjoy!
